Those convicted were sent to the Central Prison, located at Czarnieckiego Streeet 12-18. During the deportations to the death camps, the place became a rallying point from where they were sent to a ramp at the Radegast Station. Convicts were first to be deported.
“February 21 [1942] will long be remembered by the inhabitants of the ghetto. On this day the first public execution was held. The place of execution was a large square at the intersection of the streets of Bazarowa and Lutomierska. Until the very last moment people did not know that an execution would be held at the square (...). In the middle of the square gallows were set up. A few minutes after ten o'clock in front of the displaced office building on Rybna Street a droshy arrived with a ill-fated man in handcuffs, escorted by officers from the Central Prison (...) Until the last moment the convict remained completely calm. (...) When he took off his cloak, he made a quiet, humble request to spare his life. (...) Also, the wife and daughter of the convict were present at the execution. The execution had a profound impact on the ghetto "
